Banking Automation is delighted to work with Northumberland County Council as it introduces automated payment facilities to 6 of its regional offices.
The Council has installed Self-Pay Kiosks at each site, enabling customers to make a variety of payments, including rent, council tax, business rates and waste & recycling charges. Payments can be made in cash – the kiosk issues change where necessary – or by debit & credit card using the integral Chip & PIN terminal. Customers may identify themselves by using the large colour touch screen or, alternatively, can begin a payment transaction by scanning a barcoded bill.
All customers receive a unique and detailed receipt slip, with full audit files being maintained by the kiosk. Each kiosk is networked, ensuring a seamless ‘end of day’ transfer of files.
Banking Automation is currently working with Capita, which will allow Self-Pay Kiosks to be fully integrated within the Local Authority cash-receipting system.
Speaking about Northumberland’s new automated payment initiative, Kevin Dale (Area Service & Development Manager) said:
“The purchase of Self-Pay Kiosks is part of our ongoing initiative to drive inefficiencies out of our key operational areas. A key objective was to implement the Self-Pay Kiosks without having a detrimental effect on the quality of service we provided to our customers. This was a major project which was delivered to tight timescales and within budget. A key element in the success of the project was the close working relationship between the project team and Banking Automation. Their dedicated support and advice allowed us to constantly tailor the solution throughout the implementation process”
